Ms Gala Camacho FerrariOptimisation Consultant
I am originally from Mexico. I did a BSc in Applied Math with a focus on Aerospace Engineering in the US. I actually started off as an Aerospace Engineering major but ended up in Applied Mathematics because I really enjoyed aerodynamics and found that the mathematics was what really caught my eye. When I graduated I decided to teach at an inner-city school in Denver, to a school with a large population of Mexican immigrants. I left the US to live in Uganda for six months.
After Uganda I came to Australia and kept teaching. I started my MSc in Mathematics because I wanted to learn about statistics to work in educational policy. After one semester of Optimisation for Industry, I decided I liked optimisation much more than statistics. I now work for Biarri as an Optimisation Consultant, where I use mathematics to design fibre optic networks.
